Abstract

364,681. Inking-apparatus. LINOTYPE & MACHINERY, Ltd., 9, Kingsway, London, and SPENCE, F., Barwick House, Washway Road, Ashton-on-Mersey. Oct. 10, 1930, No. 30375. [Class 100 (ii).] In inking-mechanism wherein a set of distributing rollers A supply ink from a fount 1 to a drum 2 rotating constantly in one direction and from which ink is transferred by a swinging ductor roller 15 to a set of forme rollers B rotating in opposite directions alternately with reversal of travel of the reciprocating bed 3, the last roller 7 of the set A is in constant operative contact with the drum 2. A swinging roller 4 supplying ink from the fount 1 to the set A is connected to the roller 15 whereby the two rollers swing in unison into and out of contact with the ink fount roller 5 and drum 2 respectively. The arm carrying the roller 15 may be pivoted concentrically or eccentrically with respect to an intermediate roller 11 whereby the roller 15 may be in constant contact with the roller 11 or may be moved into and out of contact with the drum 2 and roller 11 simultaneously. The circumference of the drum may be equal to the length of the forme and its peripheral speed equal to the linear speed of the bed.
