Abstract

363,826. Fusible cut-outs. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Hinds, H. P. ; 90, Livingstone Avenue, Fittsneld, Massachusetts, U.S.A.) Dec. 18, 1930, No. 38221. Convention date, Dec. 18, 1929. [Class 38 (i).] A high voltage fuse comprises a fuse wire 1 connected to a double wire 2 the whole being mounted on an asbestos cord 4 supported by a plate 6 by flattening a collar 7 on to the cord. The wire 1 is coiled and attached to the collar 7, the plate 6 being clamped against the end of a tubular contact 9 by a cap 13. At the other end the fuse is connected by a copper strip 3, that passes out of the open end of the tube 8, to a contact 18 by means of a roughened cone 15 and a clamping nut 16. When the fuse melts any parts released are blown out of the tube 8 which projects through the bottom of the fuse box. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the use of ejected parts hanging from the tube 8 as an indicator that the fuse has blown. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
