[Class 38 (i)] The fuse wire or wires of a cartridge fuse passes through a spiral roll of asbestos cloth which takes the place of the usual arc-quenching filling. Ir the form shown, a single wire E is threaded centrally througl the roll C closed by asbestos washers 10, and its ends are secured to end caps B by means of clamping screws 7. Ir another form, three wires are arranged equidistantly from one another and from the axis.
