[Class 3 (ii).] A luminous sign comprises a casing containing a number of spaced overlapping reflectors between which lamps are arranged, and in front of which letters or designs are mounted so as to be silhouetted against the background formed by the illuminated reflectors. As shown, pairs of reflectors 4 are arranged together with the lamps 7 in the casing 1 in such a manner that light from each lamp is reflected from the inner surfaces of the pair of reflectors within which it is arranged on to the outer surfaces of the pair of reflectors immediately below. Letters 3 are mounted in front of and silhouetted against the reflectors, the effect being enhanced by the provision of perforations 5 in the reflectors 4 which take the form of the letters and are arranged behind similarly shaped reflecting screens 6. The lamps and reflectors may be coloured, and the reflectors may be adjustably mounted. The signs may be single sided, and may also be arranged horizontally or in tiers. Stencils may be placed in front of the letters 3, having corresponding but somewhat larger openings. According to the Provisional Specification, the facia may be constituted simply by a stencil or translucent plate carrying the desired wording or design.
