Abstract
361,442. High-tension switches. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Aug. 27, 1930, No. 25575. Convention date, Nov. 22, 1929. [Class 38 (v).] A switch with arcextinctions effected by the sudden expansion of a vapour, as described in Specification 354,890, has a switching chamber 1 supplied with vapour (for example water vapour) from a boiler 5 with which it communicates through a pipe 6 of small cross section. When the contact 4 is withdrawn from the fixed orifice contact 3, a sudden expansion of the vapour takes place and the arc is quenched. When the switch is again closed, the vapour pressure in the chamber is restored through the pipe 6.
