Convention date, May 19, [Class 40 (v).] In order to eliminate disturbances due to local induction, "pick-up," or reaction, when using a thermionic amplifier of the indirectly-heated type, the ordinary circuit arrangement shown in the Figure is modified by omitting the earth connection 7 from the cathode 4. This limits the coupling between the cathode and the current-source to the small capacity existing between the heating element 5 and the cathode 4, which has a high impedance to any low-frequency disturbance. The arrangement is advantageous when applied to the valves of a preliminary amplifier, or to the first valves of a cascade series, heated from an alternating or direct current source.
