348,233. Thermionic amplifiers and detectors. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London, and KINMAN, T. H., Ladbroke, Bilton, Rugby. Feb. 18, 1930, No. 5450. [Class 40 (v).] In a back-coupled valve, a coil L in the grid circuit is closely coupled to reversely - wound anode coils L1, L2, both the grid and anode coils being relatively fixed. The degree of reaction is varied from positive, through zero, to negative by means of a differential condenser C2, the two fixed plates of which are connected to opposite ends of the coil L1, L2 whilst the rotary plate is connected to the anode of the valve. The condenser connections may be reversed. The coil L1, L2 is centretapped to the filament.
