Abstract

360,189. Centrifugal machines. AKTIEBOLAGET SEPARATOR, 8, Fleminggatan, Stockholm. Nov. 4, 1930, No. 33134. Convention date, Nov. 7, 1929. [Class 23.] Density separators.-In a centrifugal separator bowl with liner discs, the channels 4 for conducting the liquid into the bowl terminate at a distance from the axis of the bowl which is greater than that of the edges of the discs. As the sludge deposit increases the channels 4 choke up and the bowl overflows before the sludge deposit reaches the discs. Radial vanes 27 are provided in the sludge space. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the separated lighter liquid moves outwards through the channel 20 and passes through a seal of the heavier liquid in the chamber 21 which is in communication with the separated heavier liquid through the opening 22. The lighter liquid then passes through the channel 25 to the discharge outlet.
