Convention date, Dec. 10, 1929. [Class 40 (v).] In a short wave valve receiver of the type in which a high positive voltage is applied to the grid and a low voltage to the anode, one end of a half-wave aerial a, Fig. 1, is connected to the anode of the valve, the anode voltage connection being made at the electrical centre of the aerial. When two valves are employed each end of the aerial is connected to the anode of each valve, the supply connection being at the centre point, Fig. 2 (not shown). In the arrangement shown in Fig. 3, part of the aerial. is constituted by the valve leads, the effective aerial length being indicated by dimension A. In all cases, the anode supply is connected to the aerial through a choke d. The system is suitable for directive reception of short waves with a minimum signal when the longitudinal axis is directed to the transmitting station.
