359,736. Cylinders. SULZER FR’RES SOC. ANON., Winterthur, Switzerland. Nov. 4, 1930, No. 33107. Convention date, Nov. 25, 1929. [Class 7 (ii).] In a two-stroke engine cylinder, the upper of two rows 4, 3 of terminal air-inlet ports extends round more than half the bore of the cylinder. As shown, the ports 4, 4a extend round 2/3, and the ports 3 and exhaust ports 5, round 1/3, of the bore. The airflow through the ports 4 is controlled by a valve 7. The air flowing through the ports 4a thus forms a screen which tends to deflect air, flowing through the ports 4, from the exhaust ports.
