358,930. Detachable wheels. OWEN, A. G. B. and DOWNS, R. W., Victoria Works, Darlaston, Staffordshire. May 10, 1930, Nos. 14411 and 38147. [Class 144 (i).] The hub-shell A of a detachable wheel, encircling the attachment-bolts j as shown, is bridged over at its outer end by an integral plate b which is formed with apertures f to provide access to the nuts of the bolts. The inner end of the hub a is closed by a flanged plate D which may be welded to the shell, or secured by the heads of the spokes e. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the outer end of the shell is reinforced by a ring E. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, the reinforcement for the outer spokes is formed by folding the metal of the shell as shown at M. In all cases, a closing-cap G may be fitted to the outer end of the hub and secured by spring clips or like devices. In the forms shown the cap is secured by a central set-screw g threaded into a boss h on the part b.
