Abstract

358,786. Weighing-apparatus fitted to conveyers. BROWN, S. C., 40, Gloucester Road, North Harrow, Middlesex. Nov. 29, 1930, No. 35943. [Class 143.] In an automatic weight-indicating and totalizing mechanism applied to a belt conveyer, the tare of the conveyer is automatically counterbalanced by passing the return stand of the conveyer over an opposing weighing section of shorter effective length than the load-weighing section but connected to the automatic weighing system by suitable multiplying levers, the means for suspending the return weighing section from the weighing system comprising narrow idlers or the like making contact only with the comparatively clean marginal edges of the conveyer clear of any adhering material likely to fall therefrom. The upper load-weighing strand 2 of the conveyer is supported by idlers 3 mounted on the weigh table 4 carried by levers 7, 8 connected to an automatic resistant lever 10. A quadrant 12 controls the weight-totalizing recorder in well-known manner. The return portion of the conveyer passes over idlers 14, 15, 16 the centre idlers 15 being supported from the lever 7 and being influenced by a portion of the conveyer of shorter length than the load-weighing section. As shown in Fig. 2, the idlers 15 engage only the edges of the conveyer and thereby avoid the dirtiest parts.
