Abstract
446,753. Endless - belt conveyers. BINGHAM, G. C., The Friary, Maldon, Essex. Nov. 5, 1934, No. 31698. [Class 78 (i)] [See also Group XVIII] In a machine for grading eggs &c. by weighing, the eggs are brought to the balances 12 by means of a conveyer belt 24 provided with circular holes 25 into which the eggs are placed. As the eggs are advanced, they roll along a rubber strip 27 of less width than the diameter of the holes and are caused to position themselves with their long axes at right angles to the direction of travel. The leading egg falls into a pivoted V-shaped carrier 32 which is rocked by a cam 38 on a rotating table 10 so as to drop the egg on to two pivoted flaps 43 (shown open). The pivoted flaps are then opened by the cam to drop the egg gently on to the balance. The carrier 32 and flaps 43 may be dispensed with.
