Abstract
786,887. Sampling apparatus. BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO., L t d. Oct. 31, 1955 [March 11, 1954], No. 7077/54. Class 58. Bulk materials are sampled by apparatus comprising a surface with a variable sized aperture 14 through which materials falling onto the surface can periodically pass, the surface being repetitively movable to bring the aperture into and out of registration with the falling materials. Preferably the surface is an endless conveyer 9 and is formed in jointed sections, each of which can be changed so that the conveyer may have additional apertures. Control means embodied in a material delivery hopper and actuated in dependence on the level of material therein, regulates the flow of material onto the conveyer and also the movement of the conveyer itself.
