Abstract
358,004. Decorticating fibrous leaves. DECORTICATORS, Ltd., Charles Street, and MANGNALL, A. R., White Lodge, Westminster Park, both in Chester. June 26, 1930, No. 19494. [Class 120 (i).] A machine for decorticating the leaves, stems, &c., of sisal, flax or hemp comprises a number of decorticating rollers d, e, f, Fig. 1, and a number of condensing rollers a, b, c arranged to condense the fibre in a direction at right-angles to that in which it is crushed by the decorticating rollers. Alternatively, the decorticating rollers may be vertical and the condensing rollers horizontal,Fig. 5, while converging belts il, i<2>, Figs. 6 and 7, or other similar elements may be substituted for the latter. The condensing elements are all adjusted simultaneously and all the rollers driven from a common driving shaft g, Fig. 1.
