[Class 103 (iv).] Relates to hopper wagons of the type in which one or more automatically closing doors are prevented from premature closing before complete discharge of the load by means of catches which automatically engage and retain the door or doors in the open position until they are hand released, and consists in end or central locking arrangements applied to a large single door hinged along a longitudinal edge. In the end locking-arrangement shown in Fig. 1, where the closure is effected by a À known combination of spring c<2> and bell-crank lever c<1> pivoted at c, a pin b on the bell crank is adapted during the opening movement of the door a to slide down a curved arm d mounted on a fixed pivot f and finally to engage a notch e, in which it is retained by the weight of the arm d. Release is effected by a double-armed lever g pivoted at i and connected to the ram d by a connecting-rod j.
