[Class 146 (i).] A letter file comprises filing prongs a, b carried by frames c, i and d, k respectively, pivoted together at l and maintained in the closed or intermediate positions by a spring-actuated lever m engaging the lateral members i, k of the frames, the frame c, i being hinged at f adjacent to one of the folds e of the cover so that the complete file mechanism may be turned through 90‹ relatively to the file back with the member c lying adjacent to the file back, and the frame d, k may then be turned through 180‹ so that the member d also lies adjacent to the back, both sets of prongs a, b being finally in an upstanding position. During the movement of the frame d, k relatively to the frame c, i, the lever m engages notches n in the members i, k to limit the movement until manually released. In order to open the file mechanism when it is resting in its normal position on the back of the cover, the lever m is lifted and engages a stop q on the member i so that the pivot l is lifted and the frames opened.
