Abstract
356,766. Direct contact steam boilers. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, ET CIE, Baden, Switzerland. June 4, 1930, No. 17165. Convention date, June 6, 1929. [Class 123 (ii).] In steam boilers of the kind in which water is injected into a small quantity of superheated steam, the mixture superheated, and more water injected into it and so on until the desired quantity of steam is developed, the quantity of the initial "exciter" steam is regulated in dependence on the firing. In one construction the motor of a pump which draws the exciter steam from the steam and water storage vessel is regulated by the firing control means which operate, e.g. the speed of the chain grate or of ram drivers, or the pulverized fuel admission means. In the plant shown a separate boiler 16 provides the exciter steam, a valve 17 influenced by the firing control means regulating its quantity and a pressure relief valve 18 passing excess into the water space of the storage vessel.
