Abstract
352,696. Motor power plant. AKT.- GES. BROWN, BOVERI, ET CIE, Baden, Switzerland. June 20, 1930, No. 18846. Convention date, Feb. 19. [Class 110 (iii).] Marine steam power plant is characterized in that a separate superheater of small dimensions is used when cruising which superheater takes its steam from the main boiler or from a separate boiler. The power plant comprises main boilers 1 and main superheaters 2, a H.P. turbine 4 and a L.P. turbine 5 driving the propeller through a reduction gearing 6, and a cruising turbine 7 on the same shaft as the H.P. turbine 4 for supplying which is included an additional superheater 8. The cruising superheater 8 is connected to the main steam pipe 3 and by a pipe 10 with the turbine 7, suitable valves being provided. The pipe 10 has a branch 13 leading to the H.P. turbine 4. A pipe 15 also connects the main 3 with the cruising turbine 7 for emergency use. Gases from the superheater 8 may be passed through the pipe 24 into the firing space of the boilers 1 by means of valve connections. The superheated steam may be mixed with saturated steam.
