Abstract

355,079. Securing drums on shafts. STOFFEL, S. H., 1, Klein Vrijenban, Delft, Holland. Sept. 25, 1930, No. 28702. [Class 80 (ii).] The clothes receptacle 1 of a rotary washing- machine is secured to the drive shaft 8 by means of an axially arranged tubular member 6 which is secured at its ends to the end discs 4 of the receptacle and through which the drive shaft passes centrally. The shaft is secured to the tubular member only at the central portion thereof by rings 7. The shaft is carried in bearings 9, 12. The free end of the tubular member is provided with a trunnion 14 which is carried in a bearing 15. Alternatively the shaft 8 and trunnion 14 may be integral, and in this form the rings 13 by which the trunnion is secured to the member 6 are replaced by a bearing ring and bush similar to the members 9, 10. In another form the tubular member may be extended beyond the end discs, the projecting ends being supported by roller bearings.
