Abstract

297,396. Cowburn, F. C., and Godfrey. E. L. March 21, 1927. Friction gearing.-In friction gearing embodying conical rollers a and conical race members s, b, all having a common apex, a member f capable of rotation relative to the members s, b is arranged to contact with the ends of the rollers in the vicinity of their periphery. The member f may be held in, a screwed plug d provided with a lock nut h. As shown for epicyclic friction gearing a loose abutment ring v is also applied to the outer race member s. Between the ring v and an annulus w springs x, or a spring washer, or a thrust ball bearing may be fitted. The rollers a are mounted on pins r fitted to a sleeve m supported on the shaft 'by ball bearings k and having driving teeth n.
