Abstract
241,076. Sankey, A. R. M. Feb. 4, 1925. Roller bearings.-A cage C in which the rollers D of a bearing are rotatablv mounted is driven round by the bearing parts at such a speed that no slip occurs between the latter and the rollers, and the rollers are kept in axial alignment with the shaft. As shown, applied to the bearing of a wheel B mounted on a fixed shaft A, the cage C is driven round by a member H mounted on a spindle G rotated at the required speed by a member J thereon engaging the wheel B. The contacting faces B<1>, C<1>, which may be toothed or roughened, are conical, the apices of the conical faces coinciding with the intersection of the axes of the spindles G and the shaft A. The housing E for each spindle G is fixed to the shaft A and preferably three spindles G are arranged at each end of the bearing. In a modification for a rotatable shaft the housings E are secured to the fixed bearing casing and the member J is driven by contact with the rotatable shaft.
