Abstract

151,705. Winn, C. A. June 25, 1919. Roller bearings.-In a roller thrust-bearing for boats' propeller shafts &c., the races consist of thin flat rings, one of which is backed in a discontinuous manner by radial ribs 30, Fig. 4, formed integrally with the fixed bearing-number 22, which is in the form of a sleeve. The rollers are divided into short lengths 2 and are mounted in a two-part slotted cage which bears on a projection 36 of the shaft collar 20. The rollers are spaced differently from the ribs 30 so that all do not bear simultaneously on the parts of the race which are backed by the ribs. Fig. 3 shows a modification having the ribs 33 twisted spirally. The shaft collar 20 may consist of concentric rings 37, 38 connected by radial webs, affording a discontinuous backing for the other race. The races are fixed to the bearing-members by dowels 34.
