Abstract

The central race located between the two rows of roller bearing rotates at half the speed of the outer race, the inner race being stationary. The central race is lubricated from an oil feed passage drilled down the centre of the shaft and connected to the underside of the race by radial holes. The lubricant has the added effect that it causes the central race to run centrally on the shaft. The assembly is partic. suited for heavy load conditions where axial loading is expected to be important.
