Abstract

336,743. Greaves, C., and Greaves, F. Sept. 12, 1929. Strainer separators.-A centrifugal extractor of the planetary type has a central member B with a circular charging hole D connected by ports E to circular or elliptic feeding holes C above the planet drums H. The ports E have a large area and the spaces contain bosses F for the support of the upper bearings of the planet shafts G. Each shaft has a collar S in contact with the body of the machine either directly or through a thrust bearing T. The lower end of each shaft is supported in a removable bracket R on the body of the machine and a removable collar V is attached to the end. The arrangement is such that the axial thrust is carried by the body of the machine through the bearing T, and not by the removable bracket. The planet shafts are rotated on their own axes from the sleeve N through gear wheels M, K, and are rotated round the axis of the machine by rotation of the spindle A. The shafts G may be hollow with central rods supporting them from the body of the machine.
