[Class 59] A grinding and mixing mill comprises grinding rollers bearing on one another and each bearing on the internal surface of a hollow cylindrical casing, the rollers having, in addition to their rotary movement about their own axes, a planetary or orbital movement relative to the internal surface of the casing. As shown the rollers 2, 2 are mounted by sleeves 10 on spindles 4 carried at each end on arms 9 which are affixed to a two-part driving shaft 7. One part of the shaft 7 is bored to receive a shaft 13 provided with a pinion 12 which engages pinions 11 on the sleeves 10. The rollers 2 run on the internal surface of a fixed drum 1 having a feed hopper 15 with a feed roller 16 operated by chain and sprocket wheels from shaft 7, the lower part of the drum being provided with a discharge sieve 20. The driving pulley 14 rotates the rolls on their axes as shown by the arrows 3 and the driving pulley 6 rotates the rolls around the internal surface of the drum as shown by the arrow 5. The planetary movement may be a movement of oscillation about the axis of the drum. The rollers may be hollow for the circulation of a heating or cooling medium and the drum may be provided with a jacket.
