Abstract

353,094. Ply-wood. PIORNIK, H., 7, Ceglana Street, Warsaw. April 28, 1930, No. 13084. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, April 29, 1930.] [Class 145 (ii).] Compound sheet material comprising wood veneer sheets, with or without a sheet or sheets of paper, fabric, or metal, is made by coating or impregnating the constituent sheets with artificial resin, piling them together, and subjecting the assembly to a pressure of at least 20 atmospheres and a temperature of 120-220‹ C. The preferred artificial resin is that known under the registered Trade Mark " Bakelite." For example, five sheets of wood veneer impregnated with Bakelite are superposed and subjected in a hydraulic press to a pressure of 200 atmospheres and a temperature of 200‹ C., or three impregnated sheets of wood veneer and two outer sheets of metal, paper, or fabric are united under similar conditions.
