Abstract

352,642. Closures for jars. ARMSTRONG, J. J. V., 12, Church Street, Liverpool.-(Phoenix-Hermetic Co. ; 2444, West 16th Street, Chicago, U.S.A.) May 20, 1930, No. 15427. [Class 125 (iii).] Relates to jar closures of the type secured by an overlying sealing band which engages a ledge on the jar and the periphery of the cap. According to the invention the cap has a flange 5 and a recess 6 for the reception of the overlying part of the band 8 so that an uniform pressure can be applied to the cap and band during the sealing operation. Plastic sealing material is inserted in the channel 12 before the cap is fitted to the jar. An annular bead 10 forms the inner wall of the channel 12.
