Abstract

352,155. Sifting - apparatus. LONDON BRICK CO. & FORDERS, Ltd., Africa House, Kingsway, London, and RATCLIFFE, G. H. C., Stewartby Brick Works, Stewartby, near Bedford. May 10, 1930, No. 14474. [Class 117.] A horizontal screen e is mounted in a frame d, which is supported in a rotary frame b, c and has imparted to it intermittent vibrating movements concurrently with the rotary movement. In the arrangement shown in the Figure, the frame b, c is rotated by bevel pinions j, and has slots in which the strut axles l of the sieve frame d are free to move under the control of springs o pulling them against one end of the slots. A hook is pivoted to the base frame and, in the rotation of the screen, pulls back the stub axles l in succession until released by a ramp on the rotary carrier which lifts it. In a modification, the screen frame is hung in the rotary carrier by links or springs and is positively oscillated in its plane by a motor mounted on the carrier and driving a cam and lever or crank mechanism.
