Abstract
499,562. Land, garden, and road rollers. GODITIABOIS, A., and PIRLOT, F. J. May 2, 1938, No. 12983. Convention date, May 11, 1937. [Class 6 (i)] A roller is provided with a vibrating device mounted in the vertical plane containing the axis of the roller. Fig. 1 shows a roller 1 mounted freely on a shaft 2 to which are fixed eccentric or weighted discs 3, 4. The shaft is rotated by a motor 5 suspended from the shaft. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which the roller shaft is cranked and supports a vibrator 14 driven by a motor 15. In further modifications the vibrating device is situated outside the roller. In one form the roller shaft extends beyond the ends of the roller and carries eccentric weights at its ends and supports a frame passing over the top of the roller and carrying the motor that rotates the shaft. In another form the frame passing over the roller supports a vibrator and motor of the kind shown in Fig. 3.
