483,141. Mixing-apparatus. SMITH, Inc., L. P. Oct. 27, 1937, No. 29364. Convention date, Nov. 16, 1936. [Class 86] Apparatus for shaking paint &c. containers comprises a shaft fitted with means for clamping a container thereto and operated so as to reciprocate along, and oscillate about, its axis. The shaft 4 carries clamping-members 25 operated by a right and left handed screw 26 and is fitted with arms 7 between which is a cross block 11 operated by a crank 14 on a shaft 15 driven by a pulley 19. The gearing is mounted in the upper part of a casing with a diaphragm 3 forming a tray for lubricant. In a modification, the shaft derives its longitudinal motion from a crank mechanism and is splined in a member which is rocked by a separate crank.
