Vibration, neutralizing.-A weighing-apparatus for fine weighing operations has a liquid or air damping-device comprising a container open at one end and provided at the other end with an accurately-controlled outlet, and a piston connected to the weighing mechanism by a connection which passes round the wall of the container. As shown in Fig. 1, a rod 2 projecting downwardly from the weigh-beam 1 is bent round the wall of an horizontal cylinder 4 and is attached to the piston 5. A screw 8 controls an outlet 9 at the, end of the cylinder. The cylinder may be arranged in an oil-bath and may have either arcuate or straight walls. In a modification, Fig. 2, the cylinder is situated in a vertical position and the piston 12 is arranged in a plane passing though or near the axis of oscillation of the weigh-beam.
