Abstract

137,562. Pritchard, P. June 7, 1919. Moulding-machines.-Mechanism for jarring the pattern plate is driven from the shaft which actuates the stripping-mechanism. The invention is described as applied to a machine of the type having compressed-air jarring-means. A piston 4 is reciprocated in an air-cylinder 3 by means of gearing from the driving-shaft 12, and jars a ram 2 carrying the pattern plate, the air space being adjustable by means of a disk 5. A clutch 15 with hand-lever 32 controls this mechanism. The stripping-rods 23 are carried by a collar 20 which slides on the cylinder 3, and is moved by a vertical screwed spindle (not shown) driven by bevelgearing 26 with a clutch 29 and hand-lever 38. By means of a vertical rod with suitable stops, the collar 20 throws the clutch 29 out of action at the top and bottom of its travel. The handlevers 32, 38 are arranged to lie in the same plane, so that putting either clutch into action puts the other out.
