Abstract
610,521. Casting-machines. MORANE, R., and MARGOT, P. L. Aug. 7, 1945, No. 20182. Convention date, Dec. 30, 1943. [Class 83 (i)] [Also in Group 11] A machine, for jarring a mould after casting, has a rotating cam 9 shaped to give upward blows to the mould-carrying plate 1, and to check the downward movement after each blow. This plate 1 is connected, through heatinsulating means 3, to a shaft 2 which normally rests on a stop sleeve 6 screwed into the lower end of a cylinder 4 feathered to slide axially in a cylinder 7. The cylinder 4 can be adjusted axially by a thread thereof being engaged by a nut 10 with external teeth in mesh with a gear 11 operated by a hand wheel 12. The cylinder 7 can be laterally adjusted by a screw 15 fixed to the cylinder 7 and passing through a lug L, attached to the base 14, and two nuts 16. The projecting end of the shaft 2 has an anvil 23, preferably stepped as shown, which is thus adjusted relative to the cam 9. This is driven through a clutch and a " Hele-Shaw " reducing or other variable-speed gear, not shown. A fly-wheel may be provided to reduce shocks. The cam 9 may have one or more projections and may be shaped as in Fig. 4 to allow the mould table to fall more rapidly towards the end of each downward movement. A spring 25 may be used to balance, in part, the weight of the mould and table. The cam may be rotated at such a speed that successive blows prevent the shaft 2 &c. from falling to its lowest position.
