Abstract

137,671. Shaw, A. V., and Shaw, W. E. March 10, 1919. Ruling-machines. - The cam-heads for operating the gate and strikers to control the passage of sheets through disk ruling-machines are loosely mounted on the shafts of the cylinders and are driven independently thereof through change-gear, thereby enabling the machine to be adjusted for ruling sheets of less length than the maximum without excessive spaces between successive sheets. The sheet feed is driven from one of the cam-heads. The cam-head loose on the back cylinder shaft is driven by a chain 26 from the cam-head 2 which is loose on the front cylinder shaft and driven through change-wheels 2<1>, 17, 16, 14 from the wheel 13 on the driving-shaft 1. The sheets are fed from a pile 6 by rubber disks 4 carried by a rod 7 which is reciprocated by a link 10 from a rock-lever 11 oscillated from an eccentric 21 onthe cam-head 2.
