Abstract
278,125. Barker, J. H. July 30, 1926. lathes. - The machine described in Specification 106,039 is modified by operating the slides C<1>, C<2> from two independent levers E<1> E<2> which are pivoted at a common point F. The lever E<2> is connected through a link X to a roller U<2> engaging the cam H on the cam plate 1 while the lever E<1> carries a roller U<1> directly engaging the cam. Both slides are thus actuated in the working direction by the cam H, the return movements being effected from a cam G. The cam H is made considerably longer than the corresponding cam in Specification 106,039 so that either a finer feed may be imparted to the tool slides or, alternatively, the cam may be driven at higher speed to give increased output. In the case of a machine having four slides as described in the prior Specification, the abovementioned mechanism is duplicated.
