Paper tubes.-In a machine for manufacturing paper tubes in which the usual clamp holding carriage G, Fig.' 1, is operated from a driven shaft A through an eccentric B which causes a lever C to oscillate a rod D connected by a lever E to the carriage, the wear of the eccentric B within the strap C is taken up by an adjustable piece J of steel in the eccentric, a steel plate I on one side of the opening in the lever C and a spring-pressed steel plate K on the other. The carriage slides on bars H<1> forming guides the engagement between the carriage and the guides being adjustable by screws M, M<1>. The mandrel is mounted between two bearings X, Y, Fig. 4, adjustable by screws for holding the mandrel in a true horizontal position.
