Abstract
170,903. Sumpter, F. S., and Hamlett, R. F. F. June 30, 1920. Endless-chain machines; moulds; pressureproducing mechanism.-Relates to concrete block and like machines of the kind in which wheeled moulds are run on a track to and from a press and comprises a rectangular track formed of two parallel sets of rails d, Fig. 3, and two sets of end rails m upon which run transfer tables k furnished with rails k<1> adapted to align with the rails d whereby the moulds are passed successively through a filling-station X, pressing-station r and discharging-station Y. At the pressing- station, the track and mould are supported by a strong girder frame e, Fig. 1, adjustable by rack mechanism e<1> and held in adjusted position by bolts b<1>. Pressure is applied by a ram a operated by an eccentric v mounted upon a shaft v<1> driven through gearing w, x, y, Fig. 8, controlled by a combined hand or foot lever o operating a belt fork and cone clutch p. The moulds g, Fig. 7, are formed of two L-shaped portions hinged to a fixed rear wall at g, which portions meet at the front at i' and are secured by a latch j. Screw adjusting-means for the frame e is also described.
