Abstract
757,191. Hopper discharge apparatus. HEWITT-ROBINS, Inc. Nov. 15, 1954 [May 26, 1954], No. 32995/54. Class 78 (1). Material discharge apparatus comprises a hopper 3, a track 7, a gate carriage 9 movable on the track beneath the hopper outlet to open and close the same, a stationary driveshaft 18, power means 23 (not shown) for oscillating the shaft, and drive connections (e.g. chains 20) between the shaft and carriage to reciprocate the carriage beneath the hopper outlet. As shown, the gate is constituted by fixed platform 10 carried by carriage 9, and a movable plate 11, the latter being pivoted on the carriage at 13 and being operated by crank arms 17 connected by chains 15 to fixed points 16 so that, as the carriage moves to the right, plate 11 is raised to the horizontal to form an extension of platform 10 and, as the carriage moves to the left, plate 11 drops to guide the discharge of the material.
