Presses; moulds.-In a machine for moulding building-blocks in which the mould box is conveyed on rails to and away from a ram-plate, the rails engage the box directly when in position under the ram and undue strain on the rollers is thereby avoided. The mould 3, when under the ram-plate 5, rests on rails 2 engaging recesses 4 and rear rollers 6 and a front roller 7 are mounted thereon so that in this position the latter is lower than the former. The roller 7 rests on the end of a lever 8 pivoted on bearings 10 so that on depression of the lever the roller 7 is raised and the mould box is lifted from the rails and may be withdrawn on the rollers R, 7, the levers 8 acting as a guide rail for the roller 7 and being held in an horizontal position by the bracket 29. The ram-plate 5 is supported from a plate 17 carried at its corners on vertical rods 18 sliding in guides 19, and is reciprocated by a hand-wheel 25 through gearing 32 and eccentrics 31 mounted on a shaft 23 and connected to the rods 18 by a spindle 21 and cross-rods 20, adjustable thereon by nuts 26. The mould box comprises a fixed base and back, side walls 14 hinged thereto, and a front wall 13 hinged to the base 12- The back, front wall and ram plate are grooved to accommodate division plates.
