Abstract
351,510. Electrolytic furnaces. JESSUP, A. C., 2, Rue AdÞle, Clamart, Seine, France. Feb. 28, 1930, No. 6666. [Class 39 (iii).] In the production of magnesium in a tank wherein a central anode is surrounded by a number of cathodes, the gyratory movement of the bath drives the metal into parts of the tank wherein it will be protected against the gyratory motion. This is effected by using a polygonal tank which may have corner pockets 2 containing the cathodes and provided with partitions 5. The tank may be lined with heat insulation, the lining being omitted in the pockets to effect cooling thereof. The cathodes may be provided with protective facings.
