Abstract

293,353. Soc. Anon. Compagnie de Produits Chimiques et Electrometallurgiques Alais, Froges, et Camargue, (Assignees of Hulin, P. L.). July 4, 1927, [Convention date]. Electrolytic furnaces.-The inner lining of an apparatus for producing light metals such as aluminium, is formed of three distinct horizontal frames, a refractory or carbon frame F containing the anode alloy D, . an insulating frame H containing the electrolyte E, and a, carbon frame G containing the pure metal cathode C and insulated from the shell by insulation B which may extend to the bottom of the apparatus. The insulating frame is formed of electrolyte which solidifies on a frame through which water is cirsulated. The frame G is surmounted by a metal cover I connected to the negative lead and which may be separated from the frame by heat insulation m. Current passes to the frame through metal pins i or a metal belt surrounding the frame. The frame G may have an inward extension G<1> which may have an alundum lining K. An air-tight cover L may be provided,
