Abstract

269,253. Lewin, T. Jan. 15, 1926. Drawings to Specification. Copper, tin, and lead, obtaining. - Impure brass or bronze such as the scrap metal from lathes and milling machines and also the residues remaining in the furnaces and moulds in the manufacture of brass by fusion of its constituents are smelted in a blast, reverberatory, or other suitable furnace to remove iron, zinc and non- metallic and other impurities, and cast into anodes which are treated electrolytically for the recovery of copper. The deposited copper is refined in a furnace and cast to commercial shapes. Tin and lead are deposited as slimes in the electrolytic tanks, which are preferably deeper than usual, and are removed and smelted for recovery of the metals.
