Abstract
350,950. Condensers. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Marconi House, Strand, London, and LINSELL, A. A., 47, Crown Street, Brentwood, Essex. March 17, 1930, No. 8584. [Class 38 (ii).] In a wave-meter or like high-frequency oscillating circuit 5, 6, correction for temperature changes is obtained by a temperature-actuated variable condenser comprising a thermometer 1 having two electrodes 2<1>, 3<1> one or both of which are in electrostatic association with the expanding thermometric column 4. One or both of the electrodes may be shaped to give any desired law of capacity variation. The thermometer may be associated with the tuning unit 5 so that the coupling between the electrodes may be varied in addition to the variations due to temperature change. Thus the thermometer 1 may be curved, Fig. 6, and may alter its position relative to the second electrode 10, of curved tubular form, in accordance with the movement of the tuning unit. The thermometer 1 may be eccentrically mounted within the non- conducting stem 7 of the rotor, Fig. 4, to which the second electrode 3<1> is fixed, for the same purpose.
