Abstract

347,881. Circular knitting-machines. SALLIS, E., Vernon Works, Basford, Nottingham. April 30, 1930, No. 13244. [Class 74 (ii).] A device for regulating the feed of rubber thread in the production of elastic fabric or garments comprises two feed rollers between which the thread is passed and two cones or equivalent tapered members 7, 8 which transmit variable rotation to the feed rollers to vary the rate and/or tension of the feed. The cones &c. are mounted in a frame 6 which rotates about the stationary needle cylinder. The cone 7 is driven from a rack 2 on the machine table while the cone 8 is driven from the cone 7 by a belt 10 and drives the lower feed roller. The belt is traversed by a nut 15 on a screw 14 which is driven from the cone 7 by a train of gears mounted on a swivelling plate 16 to which is attached a handle 21. The screw 14 is driven forward or in reverse, or is left free according to the position of the handle.
