Abstract
632,440. Knitting- machines. HOYLE, E. June 4, 1947, No. 14731. [Class 74 (ii)] [Also in Group IX] A device for waxing yarn as it passes to the yarn-guide of a knitting-machine comprises a disc of wax D supported on a stationary circular and bevelled-edge plate C so as to rotate about a vertical pillar B. The pillar B is mounted on a base-plate A, which supports a yarn-guide K, L on each side of the plate C, and a bracket E carrying a tensioning device comprising two spring-pressed discs M, O, and a spring-biassed yarn take-up finger F. The yarn, after passing from its supply and between the discs M, O, is guided between the disc D and plate C to receive a coating of wax and is then engaged by the finger F before it is fed to the instruments.
