Abstract
347,014. Valve actuating mechanism. SIEMENS SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.- GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. May 2, 1930, No. 13594. Convention date, May 6, 1929. [Class 135.] A driving gear for a valve spindle providing for operation by motor, or by hand, or both together, is characterized in that the torque from both driving shafts is transmitted through worms to a compensating or differential gear and thence to the valve spindle, the pitch of the worms being such that these are self-locking or stationary when not driven thereby avoiding interaction between the two drives. The worm wheel 8 driven by the motor-driven worm 3 carries planet wheels 6, 9 of different diameters meshing with internally toothed wheels 5,10 connected, respectively, with the hand-operated worm wheel 4 and with the valve spindle 1. When either drive is operating the other may remain stationary or may be driven.
