Abstract

346,399. Power-generating systems; turbine steam supply. SALGE & CO. TECHNISCHE GES. W., 35, Budapester Strasse, Berlin. Jan. 10, 1930, No. 973. Convention date, Jan. 22, 1929. [Classes 110 (iii) and 122 (iii).] A marine high-pressure, superheated-steam power plant comprises high-pressure boilers A, superheaters B, compound &c. engines C1, C2, e.g. of the Woolf type, auxiliary machinery, high and low-pressure accumulators G. F respectively, a temperature regulator D, and feed-water heating arrangements. The steam from the boiler A is led to the regulator D which lowers the inlet temperature of the steam for the high-pressure part of the plant and increases the volume of the exhaust steam of the high-pressure part passed through it to such an extent that the low-pressure part C2 is driven with the same power as the high-pressure part Cl, and additionally a quantity of steam branched off through a pipe e is obtained for auxiliary purposes. The steam from the superheater B is led through pipe a to the regulator D then through pipe b to the power element C1, the cooling-exhaust passes by pipe c to the regulator D and then to the pipe e which supplies through a pipe d the power element C2 and through a reducing valve E the low-pressure accumulator F. The high-pressure accumulator G is fed from the high-pressure superheater B through a reducing valve J, and is connected to the accumulator F through a reducing valve H. The high-pressure accumulator supplies through a pipe i a lighting or other machine K the exhaust from which passes to the accumulator F. The feed-water is heated in a multistage heater L the lower stages of which are heated with condensates and exhaust steam from the auxiliaries or the main low-pressure part, the later stages receiving steam from the main higher-pressure parts. The first stage is heated e.g. by the steering-engine exhaust l, the second stage by a portion m of the exhaust from the engine M, the third stage is heated by steam from the low-pressure exhaust of the high-pressure engine C1, and the fourth stage is heated by a portion of the high-pressure cylinder exhaust of the engine C1. The condensate of the higher stages is used in the lower stages. For manoeuvring, mixed steam is used to ensure uniform distribution of power between the engines C1, C2, ordinary steam from the boiler is led by pipe 8 to the branch b which is also supplied with cooled superheated steam. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises the application of the systems to turbines. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
