346,255. Controlling variable-speed gearing. STURMEY-ARCHER GEARS, Ltd., 177, Lenton Boulevard, and WILKIE, W., 30, Newstead Grove, both in Notting- ham. Feb. 22, 1930, Nos. 35191 and 35192. Divided on 346,521. [Class 80 (ii).] The strikers c of a change-speed gear are operated selectively by a revoluble multiple cam b actuated through a gearing-up epicyclic train from a control lever g. Planet pinions h carried by a bush g<1> extending from the lever g roll inside. fixed annulus and impart increased speed to a cam gear e secured to the cam b. The cam b is shown as a disc. A modification is described in which the cam is of drum form. This control is suitable for the four-speed gearing of Specification 346,521.
