Abstract

346,197. Tubular surface heat-exchangers. DEHN, F. B., 103, Kingsway, London.-(York Heating & Ventilating Corporation ; 117, South 16th Street, Philadelphia, U.S.A.) May 9, 1930, No. 14340. [Class 64 (iii).] A heat exchanger comprises a casing 11 open at one end and having air passages formed in two sides thereof, in combination with a removable unit consisting of two headers 13, 14 and loop tubes 10 having ends respectively communicating with the headers which latter form a closure over the open end of the casing. The top and bottom plates 21, 22 are joined to the headers after assembly. The endplate of the casing carries a flange 24 to which another casing may be attached, and on its inner side is provided with wings 27 forming a seating for a shield 28, Fig. 7, fitted over the tube loops. The latter are fixed to the shield by stay rods 31 carried by strips 30 which extend respectively across the top and bottom of the tube unit. The centre stay rod 32 projects to form guide members arranged to slide in longitudinal grooves in the top and bottom plates of the casing. The grooves carry baffles to close the spaces between the tube unit and the top and bottom plates.
